The Scenario

A senior engineer leaves for a competitor.

Two weeks before they resign, they clone the Git repository, download the CAD library and copy the pricing model to a personal drive. DLP flagged nothing because they had legitimate access. With OSS, the crown-jewel repository was never on the network. There was nothing to clone.
